This vibrantly hand-colored engraving, printed in England in 1810, features a hunt scene and is accompanied by the caption, "His Majesty going out with his Stag Hounds on Windsor Forest." The style of the illustration – with so much movement and "personality" depicted in both the horses and dogs – is what immediately drew me to this engraving while browsing a high street antique print shop in the Peak District.
Three other antique prints found in the same print shop during our trip to England last fall are part of this curated collection and can be found here:
- 1793 Framed Antique Hand-Colored Horse Engraving: "Anvil, late property of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales"
- 1831 Framed Antique Hand-Colored Horse Engraving: "Moonraker"
- 1860 Miniature Framed Hand-Colored Hunt Scene Lithograph
Dimensions:
- Artwork: 6.75" tall by 4.25" wide
- Frame Overall: 13" tall by 10.25" wide
Condition:
Engraving is in excellent condition with very slight darkening of the paper in areas due to age.
The engraving has been carefully framed in a lovely repurposed vintage frame. The frame has some chips to the finish in areas. Each framing element is archival: from the museum grade mat and backing board, to the traditional mulberry paper mounting hinges, to the dust cover on the back of the frame.
This is an antique item and therefore is naturally in "used" condition. Please view all photos before purchasing.
