This 200+ year old first-edition colored aquatint is captioned "Interior of the Stables lately erected by J.R. Scott Esq. Cheltenham" and was engraved by D.T. Egerton and printed by Sherwood, Neely & Jones in England in 1822. This is a piece that I almost kept in my personal collection after finding it at a high street antique print shop in the Peak District last fall. I love the bright, airy stable scene depicted, with each of the horses sporting white and red blankets.
Dimensions:
- Artwork approximately 5.25" tall by 7.75" wide
- Frame Overall: 9.75" tall by 12.75" wide
Condition:
Aquatint is in excellent condition with slight darkening of the paper in areas due to age (at edges) and two small holes at the bottom where the paper would have originally been bound into a book (mostly obscured by the mat).
The aquatint has been carefully framed in a lovely repurposed antique frame. The frame has some chips to the finish in areas. Each framing element is archival: from the museum grade mat and backing board, to the traditional mulberry paper mounting hinges, to the dust cover on the back of the frame.
This is an antique item and therefore is naturally in "used" condition. Please view all photos before purchasing.
