This intricately detailed engraving, titled "Steeplechase in Beds" and printed in England in 1840, features a group of over a dozen horses and jockeys in the countryside. I love the dramatic, energetic gestures of both horses and riders. It is a lively piece that instantly caught my eye at a high street antique print shop in the Peak District last fall.

Dimensions:

  • Artwork approximately 4.75" tall by 6.5" wide
  • Frame Overall: 11.25" tall by 13.25" wide

Condition:

Engraving is in excellent condition with slight darkening of the paper in areas due to age (bottom left corner and top center).

The engraving has been carefully framed in a lovely repurposed vintage frame. The frame has some chips to the finish in areas. Each framing element is archival: from the museum grade mat and backing board, to the traditional mulberry paper mounting hinges, to the dust cover on the back of the frame.

This is an antique item and therefore is naturally in "used" condition. Please view all photos before purchasing.
