This 1856 "Blenheims and Cockers," engraving by Philadelphia, PA engraver Gilbert and Gihon, was originally an illustration in a book titled "The Dog" by William Youatt. Youatt was known for his treatises on farming and animal sciences. "The Dog" was published in 1856 in Philadelphia.

This sweet engraving of Blenheim and Cocker Spaniels captures the breeds' characteristics perfectly. And, perhaps just as special as the engraving, is the antique frame it is housed in. Incredibly ornate, the frame features diamond and arrow design inlays in various wood tones.

Dimensions:

  • Artwork approximately 4.5" tall by 5.5" wide
  • Frame Overall: 8.5" tall by 9.5" wide

Condition:

Engraving is in excellent condition.

The frame has some blemishes and a hole drilled into the top and bottom (most likely for old framing hardware). The frame has been fitted with a new museum-grade backing board and dust cover.

This is an antique item and therefore is naturally in "used" condition. Please view all photos before purchasing.
