Inspiration Notes: This block print is THE piece that inspired the aesthetic of my entire "Wanderlust" wallpaper collection.
So many elements come together in the "Wanderlust" collection (this print and the wallpaper) – the horse, place, memories, history, flora and fauna – and I love that a strong sense of story is present here and in the wallpaper patterns. Foremost, as it always is, the horse is my greatest muse. But, while first dreaming up this series, I let my imagination run wild.
There is a strong sense of place – rooted firmly in the countryside. And a heavy dose of influence from historic patterns and textiles that have inspired me for years: Liberty London prints, William Morris patterns and print plates, Delft tiles, Wedgwood Jasperware, C.F.A. Voysey tiles, 18th and 19th century wallpaper, and so much more.
