The holidays are a magical time of year in the Studio. From creating my annual horse-themed Christmas ornament to launching winter stationery collections, it’s my busiest time of year. The part I love most is being part of your holiday season as I design, handmake, and package unique, artisanal gifts for your friends and family.
No matter who you’re shopping for, you’ll find a memorable gift in this year’s holiday gift guide for equestrians and horse lovers.
For the letter writer: Celestial Stationery
The Studio’s winter 2024 Celestial Stationery collection is designed to take you from heartfelt Christmas cards to New Year’s well wishes. This star-dusted stationery adds a touch of charm and wonder to every message. Get a horse-loving letter-writer a boxed set of high-quality correspondence cards and luxurious wax seals in four different designs in a rich color palette with metallics.
Also, if you’re looking for the perfect greeting card to send yourself, the Celestial collection includes the “Silent Night” greeting card, which is the same design as this year’s sold-out Christmas ornament.
For the home decor lover: Equestrian-Themed Antiques
I launched the Studio’s authentic vintage and antique online shop earlier this year, and it’s been a new favorite among equestrians and lovers of the English countryside aesthetic. I hand-select these vintage and antique pieces, some dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, in New England and the United Kingdom. Antique and vintage items are always packed with the utmost care and may be shipped in recycled packaging, furthering a mission to reuse that goes hand-in-hand with preserving these treasures.
For the crafty horse lover: Equestrian-Themed Needlepoint
In one of my favorite collaborations, select Danielle Demers Studio designs are available as hand-painted needlepoint canvases through The Plum Stitchery. These exclusive needlepoint designs include the wintery motifs of the Woodland Collection, the horse-show-winning Rosette Ribbon Collection, and the royally dressed, 18th century-inspired race horses of the Horse Collection. Needlepoint is the perfect pastime as you curl up by the fire this winter. You can easily order my needlepoint designs through your local needlepoint shop or pick them up at an affiliated retailer.
For the unique art lover: The Wanderlust Block Print
Due to popular demand, I am offering a limited run of 40 prints of “Wanderlust: Richmond Hill, London,” a heavily detailed linocut relief block print featuring a horse in a countryside landscape with a charming old oak tree and a glimpse of a meandering river. This block print inspired the aesthetic of my entire "Wanderlust" wallpaper collection. All linocut relief block prints are carved by hand and printed in small numbered editions on a tabletop press in my studio.
For the young horse lover: 1980 Edition of Black Beauty
This charming vintage find of a childhood classic is one of the most recent additions to the Studio’s vintage and antique collection. This specific edition — The Junior Library Edition of Black Beauty by Anna Sewell — is one of my favorites. (I actually received a Junior Library Edition of Black Beauty for Christmas when I was very young and I have always treasured it. It is currently sitting in my studio!) The vibrantly illustrated hardcover is eye-catching on a shelf, and the interior is filled with a mix of charming, nostalgic black-and-white and colored illustrations. This 1980 printing has red sprayed edges and end papers. The book also includes an original clear plastic dust jacket. For the art connoisseur: Original Line Drawing from “The Lines Series”
Art lovers who treasure originals over prints will be pleased with a gift of an original Danielle Demers line drawing. The Lines Series is an ode to the beauty, honesty, and sense of belonging and identity we find in horses. These drawings make my heart sing. Each drawing shows the entire process — from broad mapping to the tiniest flick of a line that gives the eye expression, every mark is there. Nothing is erased.
For the reader: Vintage Alabaster Horse Head Bookend
This lovely mid-sized vintage alabaster carved horse head bookend is a striking piece in the vintage and antique shop. The striations in the stone, in soft, neutral cream and white tones, perfectly complement the shape of the horse. In addition to using this vintage bookend for its intended purpose, it would also lend a sophisticated look to a mantle or chest of drawers when layered with artwork. It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips.
For the horse lover who has everything: Wax Seals
Wax seals are a relic from a bygone era that add elegance and personalization to modern-day notes and letters. They are a unique and sophisticated gift for anyone, especially our friends and family with a flair for the finer things in life. My wax seal designs start as pencil drawings that are transformed and reimagined as intaglio carvings in brass wax stamps. The style, unique shapes, and border treatments are inspired by 18th- and 19th-century wax stamp designs. Wax seals are poured and pressed by hand in the studio using premium sealing wax crafted in Canada. They are packaged with love in foil-stamped, self-closing boxes that are perfect for keeping sets of wax seals organized (and looking very pretty) on a desk.
